The Goliat North exploration well in the Barents Sea discovered up to 5 million barrels of oil equivalent, which Vår Energi plans to tie back to the Goliat FPSO.
The Vår Energi well, 10 km north of Goliat, hit hydrocarbons in the Realgrunnen and Klappmyss formations, with estimated gross recoverable resources of up to 3 mmboe.
Vår Energi announced a successful low-pressure project start-up at the Gjøa field, increasing daily production by 6 kboepd and boosting remaining recoverable volumes by approximately 25% for a longer economic life.
The project is an important contributor to reaching Vår Energi’s target of producing more than 400 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in fourth quarter this year.
The Jotun FPSO will have a low operating cost of around USD 5 per barrel and estimated gross proved plus probable recoverable reserves from the project at 150 million barrels of oil equivalent.
